Anna Elba Avilés, 81, of West Haven, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Cristbal Colón. Anna was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on September 30, 1943, a daughter of the late Monserate Avilés and the late Valentina Casillas. She had resided in New Haven for most of her life before moving to West Haven twenty years ago. Anna is also survived by two daughters, Lucy Morales and Grisel Vargas of Hamden, a son, Bryant Colón of North Branford, two sisters, Catalina Aviles of New Haven and Sol (José) Merced of Guayama, PR, one brother, Antonio (Luz) Avilés of Guayama, twenty one grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by two sons, Louis R. Colón and Luís Alberto Colón, and two brothers, Luís Flecha and Monserate Avilés, Jr..
Anna's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, March 10th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, March 11th at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Therese Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
