Angel Manuel Viruet, 74 of New Haven died peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Virgina Cortés. Angel was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on April 14, 1946, a son of the late Aladino Viruet and the late Felicíta Medina, and had resided in Newark, NJ for thirty years before moving to New Haven thirty two years ago. Angel loved to sing and play guitar, and performed at many family gatherings. He is survived by four daughters, Felicíta Viruet of Florida, and Mildred, Ibanez and Lorena Viruet of New Haven, three sons, Waldemar Viruet of Florida and Robin and Averangel Viruet of New Haven, two sisters, Doris Viruet of Nutley, NJ and Maria Viruet of Berlin, CT, two brothers, Luís Medina of Elizabeth, NJ and Ismael Viruet of Kearny, NJ, fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Angel Viruet, a sister, Carmen Viruet, and three brothers, José Viruet, Armando Medina Viruet and Antonio Viruet. Angel's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 12th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Monday, July 13th at 12:30 p.m. for a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella Grasso Blvd., New Haven at 1:00 p.m. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
