Angel Luís Márquez, 66, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus with his loving family by his side. Angel was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on April 20, 1959, a son of the late Rafael Márquez and the late Bienvenida Olmeda, and had resided in New Haven for a total of thirty seven years, including the past fifteen.
Angel was a loving, humble and strong man, and was passionate about baseball. Angel played all positions and was a great ball player. He was a great fan of the game who knew all major league players statistics. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards, and had shoe boxes full of them. Angel was also a big basketball fan. He loved swimming the beaches and rivers of Puerto Rico, and always had a story to tell. His neighbors could always count on him to lend a helping hand. Whether it was landscaping or house painting, Angel was always there to help out. He always loved to work, and to help others. Above all else though, he loved his family and was always there for them.
Angel is survived by three daughters, Joangelie Márquez of Meriden, Yanelie (Antonio Cintrón) Márquez of New Haven and Anais Márquez of West Haven, two sisters, Sara Velázquez of Chicago, IL and Edna (Ismael Torres) Márquez of Yabucoa, five brothers, Roberto, Edwin, Alberto and Rafael (Melín Fonseca) Márquez, all of Yabucaoa, and Felix (Lillian) Márquez of Tampa, FL, five grandchildren, Angelie Santos, and Alex, Yaneisie, Noah and Lex Cintrón, his long time loving partner Berenid Rivera, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Angel's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, November 1st from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home during visitation time. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfhc.om
