Angel Montes de Jesús

Angel  Montes de Jesús, 74 of New Haven died peacefully at Yale-New Haven on Monday, December 14, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Milagros Torres Montes. Angel was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on October 24, 1946 a son of the late Aurelio Montes Santiago and the late Maria Dolores de Jesús Rodríguez, and had lived in New Haven for the past fifty eight years. He worked at Connecticut Container Corp. of North Haven for over twenty five years, retiring in 2011. Angel is survived by two sisters, Carmen de Jesús and Rosa de Jesús Montes of Ponce, two brothers, Luís I. Montes de Jesús and Carlos Montes de Jesús, also of Ponce, two grandchildren, Malisa Ortíz of New Haven and José O. Figueroa of Ansonia, and twelve great-grandchildren, Justice Berrios, Aneldy Ortiz, Shurena Pruitt Figueroa, Laura Marie Figueroa, Precious Brianna Szostek Figueroa, Jayden Jiménez, Mia Jiménez, José  Figueroa, Ana Cristina González, Carmen González, Miriam Mia Matias, and Jayleeana Matta. She was predeceased by her son Manuel O. Figueroa, and her brother, Luís A. de Jesús. Angel's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 23rd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
