Angel Luís Martínez Sánchez

Angel Luís Martínez Sánchez, 76, of Hamden, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Arden House, Hamden after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of fifty eight years Iris Nereida González. Angel was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico on December 6, 1948, a son of the late Praxedes Martínez Piñeiro and the late Altagracia Sánchez Figueroa, and had resided in Puerto Rico for most of his life before moving to New Haven in 2005. He had lived in Hamden for the past seven years. While living in Puerto Rico he worked in the pharmaceutical industry for many years.

In addition to his wife, Angel is survived by two sons, Luís Felipe (Mireya Estrada) Martínez González of Rio Grande, PR and Angel Luís (Katherine) Martínez González of New Haven, one sister, Margarita (Juan Román Alonzo) Martínez of Ansonia, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his son Miguel Angel Martínez González.

Angel’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 24th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Ministries, 73 Fresh Meadow Rd., West Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church during visitation time. A prayer service will take place at the church on Saturday, October 25th at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven.
