Alberto Baez, Sr., 52 of West Haven died suddenly on Monday, April 25, 2016 in New Haven from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Alberto was born in New Haven on September 24, 1963, a son of Gilberto and Rosario Rey Rodriguez Baez of Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico. He had lived in New Haven for most of his life, in Branford for twelve years, and West Haven for the past three years. Alberto was a former bartender and worked for many years at the Stone House Restaurant in Guilford and Su Casa of Branford. He then owned and operated the former Albie's Place of West Haven for several years, and was also a cook at Crossroads of New Haven. In addition to his parents, Alberto is survived by a daughter, Jessica Baez of West Haven, two sons, Alberto Baez, Jr. and Miguel Enriquez Baez of New Haven, two brothers, Norberto (Raquel) Baez and Humberto Baez, also of New Haven, and two grandchildren, Mia Jade Bland and Naomi Rosario Baez.
Alberto's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, the Rev. Francis Snell officiating. Burial will be private.
