Albert Clark Obituary

Albert E. Clark, 75, of North Haven passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, after a peaceful evening celebrating New Year's Eve with family. Al, known to those closest to him as Sluggo or Slug, was born on August 28, 1946, to the late Francis and Robertine (Tidd) Clark in Bellows Falls, VT. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, having worked up to the rank of Staff-Sergeant during his multiple tours in Vietnam where he earned many commendations including multiple Purple Hearts. He took great pride in having served his country. He never left the house without wearing something reflecting his service in the Marines whether it was a shirt, sweatshirt, hat, or even a pin when he dressed up. He kept in touch with many of his fellow servicemen, particular in his later life. Slug was a brilliant mind, and even better sense of humor. He spent much of his time enjoying the great outdoors: hunting with his nephews, fishing with his kids and grandkids, and camping with lifelong best friends Ricky and Ellen Graboweicki. A family man until the very end, Al cherished spending time with his family, and traveling with his late wife, Margaret "Peg" (Holcomb) Clark. He was an active member of the Wallingford Elks Club and the Wallingford Rod & Gun Club. He also donated his time volunteering at the Wallingford Wishing Well. An avid fan of NASCAR, he never missed a Sunday race. He is predeceased in death by his wife (Peg), parents (Francis & Robertine), and his brother, Robert "Butch" Clark. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Jennifer) Clark, and two daughters, Jennifer Clark and Jamie (Robert) Ljunggren. He was the grandfather of eleven grandchildren: Taylor, Erica, Kyle, Jaccob, Breanna, Hannah, Connor, Kaylee, Katrina, Evan, and Viktoria. He was also great-grandfather of Greyson. Albert was loved by all who had privilege of knowing him. His light and life will not soon be forgotten. Services will be private with a Celebration of Life for all friends and family at a later date. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
