Adel Saad Hsaballa, 73, of Glastonbury, Connecticut died peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Friday, May 15, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Mershriky) Hasaballa. Adel was born in Cairo, Egypt on April 23, 1953, a son of the late Saad Hasaballa and the late Ansaf Mitry, and had resided in Glastonbury for the past thirty nine years. He worked with security services at Foxwood Casino for more than twenty two years, retiring in 2020.
Adel will be remembered for his deep faith, radiant smile, and joyful humor. During Liturgy, he prayed with immense reverence, yet he loved to joke with everyone afterward, treating the youngest and the oldest with the same warmth. He possessed a carefree, lighthearted spirit, bringing rooms to life with his spontaneous jokes, playful gestures, and infectious laugh. Endearingly goofy, Adel found pure joy in life's small moments and easily drew people to him. If you spent much time with him, you quickly discovered his love for sweets-which he always happily shared. Beyond his playful nature, Adel was passionate about history. He loved exploring everything from his roots in Ancient Egyptian civilization to U.S. history and heritage of his beloved Coptic Orthodox Church. Guided by a desire to deepen his faith, he read the Holy Bible eagerly, always looking for opportunities to ask questions and learn more.
In addition to his beloved wife Mary, Adel is survived by two sons, Steven Hasaballa of Houston, TX and Anthony Cyril (Jancy) Hasaballa of Dallas, TX, one sister Nadia Habib of Lincoln, RI, two brothers, Raafat (Mervat) Hasaballa of Bayonne, NJ and Fr. Angailos St. Anthony of Newberry Springs, CA, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters, Janet Tawfik, Treza Garaa and Isis Makram.
Adel's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, May 18th from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Everyone is invited to go directly to Virgin Mary & Archangel Michael Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church, 400 Ridge Rd., Hamden at 11:00 on Tuesday May 19th for funeral services. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. washingtonmemorialfh.com
