Juanita Echevarria, 67 of New Haven died peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with her loving family by her side. Juanita was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 25, 1952, a daughter of the late José Echevarria and the late Juana Hancock. She had resided in Brooklyn, NY for twenty five years, before moving to New Haven twenty years ago. Juanita is survived by one daughter, Ada (Antonio) Soto of West Haven, one son, Ezequiel Maldonado of Providence, RI, two sisters, Maria Olivera of Allingtown, PA and Nancy Rivera of New Haven, three brothers, José (Irma) Hernández of West Haven, Robert Borrero of Brooklyn and Walter Hancock of Killingly, TX, seven grandchildren, Joshua and Elisa Maldonado, Antone, Aaron, Elliet, Aleeah and Antonio Soto, Jr., two great grandchildren, Elijah and Aulani Soto, and her life partner, José Miranda of New Haven. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Ashley Soto. Juanita's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
