Donald Hemstreet Obituary

Donald Arthur Hemstreet, 76 of North Haven, CT died peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus. Don was born in Gloversville, NY on November 10, 1942, a son of the late Arthur P. and Emma Kinaman Hemstreet, and  had resided in North Haven for the past fifteen years. He had previously lived in Clifton Park, NY, Gloversville, Las Vegas, NV, Dallas and Houston, TX, Kansas City, MO, Buffalo, NY, Long Island, Columbus, OH and Detroit, MI. He was a paid fundraiser for Boy Scouts of America, and the United Way for more than thirty years, retiring twenty years ago. Don is survived by two daughters, Amie Freed of Lewis Center, OH and Jennifer Hemstreet of Westerville, OH, two sons, David Hemstreet of Columbus, OH and Eric (Jennifer) Hemstreet of Hilliard, OH,  two granddaughters, Abby and Meghan, five cousins, Charles (Kathryn) Hemstreet of Seymour, CT, Donald T. Hemstreet of New Baltimore, NY, Thomas J. Hemstreet of Ontario, NY, Margaret (Chuck) Fulkerson of Dunnellon, FL and Catherine H. Saxton of Hamden, CT, and many second cousins including Michael Saxton of North Haven with whom he resided. Funeral services for Don are private and have been entrusted to the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
