Anthony "Tony" G. Teta, 90 of Northford, died peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Guilford House in the company of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosalie Salzano Teta. Tony was born in Hamden on May 15, 1925, a son of the late Alessandro and Maria Santillo Teta, and had resided in Northford for the past fifty five years. He worked for the railroad for many years, retiring as Yard Master from the former ConRail Co. in 1991. Tony was a proud WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He enlisted in 1943, and his assignments were with the 305th Bomb Group and the 366th Bombardment Squadron as a navigator. He was discharged in 1947 with the rank of captain after thirty five missions in England, and a year and a half in China. His awards and medals included the Chinese Wings, Germany Occupation Medal, ATO, WWII Victory Medal, ETO Bar with four clusters, and ETO with three Bronze Stars. Tony is survived by a daughter, Dora Ann Giugno, two sons-in-law John Giugno and Joseph V. Gagné, all of Northford, a sister, Josephine Erba of Hamden, three grandchildren, Nichole Gagné and Brittany Giugno of Northford, and Nathan Giugno of Middletown, and one great grandson, Dane DeSena of Northford. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Gagné, and a brother, Jon Teta.
Tony's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
