The Washington Memorial Funeral Home opened in 1994 as a partnership between Peter Torello and John Iacobucci. Peter Torello's family has directed funeral homes throughout the Greater New Haven area for the past century, like the current Peter H. Torello Funeral Home in Hamden.

As a high school student, John Iacobucci worked for Peter H. Torello in his Hamden location. Upon graduation, John Iacobucci enrolled in Mortuary College at the American Academy/McAllister Institute of Funeral Services for professional training. There, he developed his own vision of what a funeral home should be, and in 1993 he and Peter Torello began the long process of designing and receiving approval of a 9500 square foot funeral home in North Haven. Featuring cathedral ceilings and a church-like serenity, the home is designed to help soothe and comfort the bereaved during a time of loss.

Instead of converting a conventional residential home, Iacobucci and Torello used the services of an architect and interior designer to create a funeral home designed specifically to honor the deceased and comfort their family and friends. Washington Memorial is a beautifully designed facility with utmost attention to detail. Torello and Iacobucci take pride in their utmost attention to every detail of the decor and the funeral services, in order to make the experience as smooth as possible for the bereaved. Peter Torello and John Iacobucci bring over 100 years of experience to a clean, spacious and comforting funeral home.
